Rava-Russian (Ukrainian Rava-Ruska) – a city in Zholkovsky area of Lviv region of Ukraine. For the liberation of the city in 1944, the regiment named in his honor.
During the war the regiment trained 7 Heroes of the Soviet Union.

On April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first spaceman of planet Earth. He flew over around the globe on a ship «Vostok 1″.
The monument was installed in 1980. The ball at the foot – the layout of landing module spacecraft «Vostok 1″

Day of Stalin’s death

His body was preserved in Lenin’s Mausoleum. At Mausoleum added «STALIN» by letters «LENIN», but in 1961, the XXII Congress of the CPSU decided that the «serious violations by Stalin Leninskiye Testaments …» blah, blah, blah, and the body softly rendered dark night, and buried where it is still – in the necropolis of the Kremlin wall, the second tomb after Suslov from the Mausoleum.
And now the legend:
In the early thirties of the camps in the Far East escaped prisoner. He believed, that put him in by mistake or intentionally evil functionaries, and if the leader of people knew, then surely all would be resolved satisfactorily. As a sign of devotion, and as proof of his guiltless escaped prisoner live hermit in the woods and the hollow of the rock bas-relief of Stalin. Then with a pure heart went surrender.

Monument to O. Mandelstam

Mandelstam (January 15 1891 – December 27, 1938) was a Russian poet and essayist, one of the foremost members of the Acmeist school of poets.
In November 1933, Mandelstam wrote a famous Stalin Epigram:
We live, but we do not feel the land beneath us,
Ten steps away and our words cannot be heard,
And when there are just enough people for half a dialogue,
Then they remember the Kremlin Highlander.
His fat fingers are slimy like slugs,
And his words are absolute, like grocers’ weights.
His cockroach whiskers are laughing,
And his boot tops shine.
And around him the rabble of narrow-necked chiefs –
He plays with the services of half-men.
Who warble, or miaow, or moan.
He alone pushes and prods.
Decree after decree he hammers them out like horseshoes,
In the groin, in the forehead, in the brows, or in the eye.
When he has an execution it’s a special treat,
And the Ossetian chest swells.
Six months later, Mandelstam was arrested.
